Dundee Students For Global Health

Below you will find our vision and a mission, which helps to bring the network together, work as movement and harness the power and passion of students across the UK to create change in global health.

Our Mission: To create a network of students empowered to effect tangible social and political change in health on a local, national and global level through education, advocacy and community action.

What is SfGH?

SfGH UK is a charity run by students with the vision of ‘a fair and just world in which equity in health is a reality for all’. The network is comprised of students from over 30 branches across the UK which work through education, campaigning and community projects to improve the health of our communities at home and around the world. 

What has SfGH done nationally?

Nationally SfGH UK has been involved in the ‘Docs not Cops’ campaign and the ‘Stop the TTIP’ campaign in recent months, has developed a Global Health Education Toolkit and a Global Health Hub and has represented the UK at international conferences such as the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations. On the international stage, SfGH members have attended World Health Assembly (the annual meeting of the World Health Organisation), the UN summit on Climate Change and Health and have completed internships at WHO headquarters in Geneva. Throughout the year we also ran four national conferences and a regional training weekend in every part of the country.

What to expect from us this year?

Expect an exciting line-up of events - from our long-standing electives night which explores global health aspects of the curriculum through real-life student experiences, to teaching events tailored to your medical teaching with fresh global health perspectives. This year will bring collaborations with a number of societies across this university and SfGH branches as well as plenty of opportunities to get stuck in to what matters most to you!

If you can sum up SfGH in a single sentence what would it be?

SfGH empowers students to make a change in the world and to educate themselves about issues affecting their health, and the health of people worldwide.
