The University of Dundee Mooting Society provides students with the opportunity to develop essential advocacy skills in a supportive and engaging environment. Mooting is a simulated court experience, which allows members to practice legal research, drafting, and oral argument while gaining confidence in public speaking and critical thinking.
Each year, we organise an Internal Mooting Competition as well as participate in a range of External Competitions against other universities. To prepare our members, we provide training sessions and workshops throughout the year. Beyond mooting itself, we also host a variety of social events, from our popular “Boozy Moots” to our annual ceilidh or ball, making the society both educational and enjoyable.
Although mooting is rooted in the study of law, our society is open to students from all disciplines who are keen to enhance their skills and get involved.
